Your Initial Appointment at NSDL

What should I bring to my initial appointment?

  • Wearing of a mask is now optional at NSDL.

  • If applicable, a valid referral from your GP or Specialist. Northern Sydney Dermatology & Laser is a specialist medical practice so a referral from your doctor is required to obtain a Medicare rebate where a Medicare rebate applies. Please send referrals to Referrals@nsdermatology.com.au, or speak to our administration team for more information.

  • Please bring in or take a photo of your current skin care routine to assist us with our consultation

  • If possible, come to your appointment without makeup on so we can have a more accurate visual of your skins true condition/state

NSDL Cancellation Policy

We understand that from time to time it is necessary to cancel an appointment. To assist in reminding you about your upcoming appointment we provide an SMS service. You will receive SMS reminders ensuring that you are made fully aware of your upcoming appointment.

NSDL requires 48 hours notice to cancel an appointment in line with our SMS notification service. Cancellations within 48 hours, or non-attendance to appointments will incur a fee of $155.

Do I need a referral? +

Northern Sydney Dermatology & Laser is a specialist medical practice so a referral from your doctor is required to obtain a Medicare rebate. A referral is preferred, although not required.

As part of our commitment to providing our patients with excellence in dermatology care, Northern Sydney Dermatology & Laser has an onsite Nurse clinic service run by our experienced dermatology nurses to provide post surgical care, phototherapy services and for any questions or concerns our patients may have.

Does Medicare or Private Health insurance cover cosmetic procedures? +

Generally they are not covered. Possible exceptions to this rule include the treatment of facial capillaries, birthmarks and some scarring. Your dermatologist will advise you on what can be claimed prior to commencing treatments.
