Forever Clear BBL

What is Forever Clear BBL?

Forever Clear is a new and innovative treatment option for acne, using powerful broadband light to regenerate and recover the skin. It is a unique and sophisticated treatment program that is able to target and improve various factors that contribute to acne.

Acne is a complex and multifactorial skin condition that can be difficult and time consuming to treat and resolve. There is a common combination of factors that can cause acne such as; inflammation, the presence of P.Acnes or C.Acnes bacteria paired with excessive sebum production and a hindered cell turnover leading to a build-up or blockage in the pores. Forever Clear BBL works to target these main factors in a unique and methodical process:

Step One: Blue BBL light is used to eliminate acne causing bacteria, by creating an environment where it can’t survive. Elements of P.Acnes/ C.Acnes are sensitive to light such as 420nm BBL blue light, and when it is exposed to this light it is destroyed and unable to spread.

Step Two: a combination of red and yellow BBL light is used to reduce inflammation, which in turn will reduces visible redness on the skin. A reduction in inflammation also helps to decrease long term scarring potential.

Step Three: The last step includes the use of infrared light to stimulates the body’s natural healing process to encourage the repair and rejuvenation of weakened skin cells. This step also complements and enhances the process and result from step one and two.

What can BBL Forever Clear treat? +

BBL Forever Clear is able to treat:

  • Mild to moderate acne
  • Congestion
  • Individual who are prone to hormonal breakouts
  • Acne induced post-inflammatory erythema
  • Reduce the potential of acne scarring

What areas can be treated? +

The Forever Clear treatment is most commonly performed on the face, chest and back. Depending on the presenting condition it may be used to treat other areas of the body after a skin analysis has been performed by one of our Dermal Clinicians.

How many treatments are required? +

This will be different for everyone is dependent on the individual case. A series of 3-6 treatments is commonly recommended at 2-4 week intervals. The severity of the condition or skin concerns will determine your specific treatment plan, which will be discussed and explained to you by a Dermal Clinician during your initial consult.

In order to achieve optimal and long term results, treatment of the underlying causes of acne should also be considered. Lifestyle and diet changes may be required as well as the use of active cosmeceutical skincare products.

What is involved in the BBL Forever Clear treatment? +

BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT

  • Ensure you come to your appointment with no makeup or fake tan on the treatment area
  • We recommend you cease any active products (e.g. glycolic) or prescription topical agents (e.g. epiduo) for 3-5 days before your appointment
  • Avoid direct sun exposure and wear SPF 50 every day for at least two weeks before your treatment

DURING YOUR TREATMENT

  • Protective eyewear will be provided and apply before the treatment begins
  • Conductive gel may be applied to assist in the light delivery
  • The treatment is very tolerable, but at times you may feel short flicks of heat on the skin
  • Once the treatment has finished calming and protective products will be applied to the skin
  • The treatment usually only takes 30-45 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated

AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

  • There is minimal downtime associated with this treatment
  • Your skin may feel a bit warm and appear a bit red, similar to a mild sunburn or exercise flush. This usually disappears within a few hours after the treatment
  • Mineral makeup can be used to camouflage expected skin responses
  • There may be a purging response on the skin following the treatment

How to take care of your skin after the treatment +

To ensure you get the best results from your BBL treatments we recommend the following:

  • Use the specific aftercare products that your Dermal Clinician has recommended to you
  • Avoid direct sun exposure and use SPF 50+ daily
  • Avoid excessive exercise or activities that increase heart rate and body temperature for 24 hours post treatment
  • Avoid exfoliating the skin for at least 7-10 days’ post treatment. This includes both chemical and physical exfoliating products.
  • If you experience a purging response after your treatment, we recommend you come in for LED light therapy which will speed up the recovery and clearance.

What are the risks and suitability of BBL treatment? +

Forever Clear BBL has a low risk profile and is a safe treatment to have. The following side effects are extremely rare and unlikely:

  • Burns
  • Blisters
  • Hyper or hypo pigmentation
