Hand Rejuvenation: Synergist treatment options

As we age, the skin on our hands can become thin, wrinkled, and veiny, making them look older than we feel. Fortunately, there are several treatment options available to help rejuvenate the appearance of our hands.  I tend to like the combination of multiple lasers as well as injectables.

Laser Treatment for Hand Rejuvenation

A combination of different lasers are used in one session to address what needs treatment. Generally this is multiple brown spots which can be sun freckles and age spots called seborrheic keratosis.  Improvement of the skin surface a texture is then performed by laser resurfacing after corrective laser.

The procedure is typically quick.  Patients may experience some discomfort during the treatment, but this is usually well-tolerated and can be managed with topical anesthesia. After treatment, patients may experience some redness and swelling, some scaling of the skin and darkening of the treated lesions until they crust and fall off.

Injection Treatments for Hand Rejuvenation

Injection treatments for hand rejuvenation involve the use of dermal fillers, such as hyaluronic acid and bioremodellers, to plump up the skin on the hands, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and veins. This treatment can also help to restore lost volume in the hands, giving them a more youthful appearance.

Injection treatments are quick and relatively painless, usually taking less than an 30mins  to complete. Risk and side effects are unlikely but important to discuss with your dermatologist prior to having treatment

Synergistic results

The best results and outcomes are achieved when synergistic treatments are performed. The overall treatment is divided into 2 sessions. Those with severe damage may need a third session.

Why have treatment with a dermatologist

Sunspots and skin cancer are common on the dorsum of the hand. A dermatologist will assess the skin and ensure you have no underlying skin cancer or concern requiring
