What is a Dermatologist?
A dermatologist treats diseases, in the widest sense, and some cosmetic or aesthetic problems of the skin, scalp, hair, and nails.

How much does an Initial Consultation cost?
An initial consultation with one of our practitioners is $345. A referral is not mandatory, however if you have a valid referral from your GP, you will receive $81.30 back from Medicare.
How much does the treatment cost?
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide you with a quote via email or over the phone. You will need to come in for a consultation with one of our dermatologists to assess you and your concerns and provide you with a personalised treatment plan and quote during your visit.
We charge $345.00 for your initial consultation, and you will get a rebate of $81.30 with a valid referral.
A follow up appointment cost is $310 with a rebate of $42.30 from Medicare with a valid referral.
Do I need a referral?
A referral is not mandatory, however if you have a valid referral from your GP you will receive $81.30 back from Medicare for your initial consultation. Otherwise, you can visit us as a private patient with no referral.
Can I have treatment on the day of my initial appt?
For laser appointments - we are unable to offer treatment with laser on the same day of the initial consultation. You may need to book in for another time for this treatment after your dermatologist explains the preparation and down time if there is any.
For some aesthetic treatments, you may receive the treatment at the same time as the initial consultation should the practitioner determine you to be eligible.
Can I claim private health insurance?
As we do not process private health in our practice, we are unable to advise whether your treatment is eligible for a rebate. We recommend speaking to your private health provider regarding any rebate enquiries.
When is the next available practitioner/doctor to book in?

When will my results be available and when will the doctor contact me?
Results can take up to 14 days, and your dermatologist will be in touch as soon as they receive them. If you have been waiting longer than 14 days, please call the practice on (02) 9958 1555 so we can follow up on this for you.
What services does NSDL provide?
We offer a range of medical appointments and services, laser treatments and aesthetic treatments at NSDL. The first step in your journey with us is to book in with a Dermatologist who will give you a personalised treatment plan and/or address your skin concerns.
Our Dermatologists are trained to treat patients of all ages, from newborns to the elderly, with the diagnosis and treatment of medically necessary conditions of the skin, hair, nails, veins, mucous membranes and adjacent tissues.
Through our dedicated Acne Clinic, our Dermatologists offer a wide range of topical, medical & laser treatments for acne & acne scarring. Our comprehensive approach to acne care has been further strengthened by the acquisition of TGA-approved energy device for acne treatment - The Aviclear.
Effective and safe, our lasers are used for aesthetics and medical treatments. We’ve chosen the most advanced laser devices used to treat scarring, rosacea, fine lines and wrinkles, spider veins and vascular skin conditions, pigmentation and sun damage.
Northern Sydney Dermatology & Laser offers a broad range of aesthetic procedures including personalised skin care advice, treatments for volume and aging skin, radio frequency treatments, pigment and vascular reduction, chemical peels & medifacials.
How do I make an online booking?
An appointment for a Consultation can be booked online via Hot Doc here. Our standard appointment is 15 minutes long.
What are your operating hours?
Our phones are open from 9.00am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday. Our clinic is open from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
Dermatology Consult Fees
The fees for consultation with one of our Dermatologists is reflective of the high standard of service and care we provide.
If you have a valid referral from your GP, you will receive a Medicare rebate. With no referral, full fees will apply.
If any further treatment is required on the day, cost will be advised during your consultation.
Fees for Laser & Cosmetic/Aesthetic appointments will vary depending on the treatments provided by our team. Generally these treatments are not covered by Medicare or Private Health Insurance. Possible exceptions to this rule include the treatment of facial capillaries, birthmarks and some scarring. Your dermatologist will advise you on what can be claimed prior to commencing treatments.
NSDL Cancellation Policy
We understand that from time to time it is necessary to cancel an appointment. To assist in reminding you about your upcoming appointment we provide an SMS service. You will receive SMS reminders ensuring that you are made fully aware of your upcoming appointment.
NSDL requires 48 hours notice to cancel an appointment in line with our SMS notification service. Cancellations within 48 hours, or non-attendance to appointments will incur a fee of $155.
We appreciate your understanding of our cancellation policy.
Wait Times & Running Late
Whilst our Doctors do their best to keep to time, our patients often require more time and attention, including unexpected procedures, this may mean that the rest of our appointments will run late. We ask for your patience in these situations, knowing that you too will receive extra time and care when required.
We recommend that you take this into consideration when accepting your appointment time.
Does NSDL offer TeleDerm?
TeleDerm video link consultations are offered depending on the Dermatologist and the skin presentation or skin concern.

How do I cancel or reschedule my appointment?
To cancel or reschedule your appointment, you will need to call us on (02) 9958 1555 between 9.00am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday. If the appointment was originally booked via Hot Doc, you can cancel the appointment yourself by following the prompts on your appointment confirmation.
Is there parking available near NSDL?
Parking is available on the street in and around our clinic.
How do I get to NSDL by public transport?
There are no trains to Northbridge, however buses stop regularly outside of the practice on Sailors Bay Road.
How long does a typical consultation last?
A consultation is usually for 15 minutes
Do you offer treatments for hair loss?
Yes, some of our Dermatologists offer treatments and advice on hair loss. Link to the hair loss page on the website.
Can I purchase skincare products at NSDL? What products?
We offer the following skin products in our clinic – Skinceuticals & La Roche Posay.

What should I do if I have an urgent skin condition?
Please call the clinic on (02) 9958 1555 Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 4.30pm to make an urgent appointment. If you have a referral from your GP, please email this to us referral@nsdermatology.com.au.
Is there anything I need to do before my appointment?
There are a few things to do prior to your appointment to ensure everything runs smoothly for you. A new patient information form needs to be completed if this is your first time coming to the clinic. If you have not received an SMS with a link to this form, please call the clinic on (02) 9958 1555 Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 4.30pm to ask for this to be resent to you.
If you have a referral, please send this to us before your appointment referral@nsdermatology.com.au.
If you’re coming for a skin check, that is all that is required.
If your appointment is for Female Genital Dermatology, some additional information needs to be sent to you.
If your appointment is for filler (can we say that?), additional information needs to be observed prior to your appointment. Please call the clinic on (02) 9958 1555 Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 4.30pm to ask for this information.
Can NSDL provide advice on skincare routines?
Yes, your Dermatologist can discuss this with you, and one of our Dermal Team can provide product information to you. We also have some general skincare information here.
What is the follow-up process after a treatment? When do I come back?
This depends on the type of treatment you’re having. We will let you know when we discuss your treatment plan, when the follow up will be required.
Do you offer pensioner discounts on consultations or treatments?
No, as a private practice, we do not offer discounts.
How can I provide feedback on my experience at NSDL?
We actively encourage GOOGLE reviews. You are also welcome to provide feedback to our Practice Manager by emailing pm@nsdermatology.com.au.
Can I see the same dermatologist for each visit?
Yes, as long as your Dermatologist is available.
How do I access my medical records from NSDL?
To access your records, please send us an email and we will forward a form for completion to you – reception@nsdermatology.com.au.
What should I do if I experience side effects after treatment?
Contact us immediately if you experience any side effects from a treatment with us. Please call the clinic on (02) 9958 1555 Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 4.30pm. If you are experiencing significant side effects outside of our hours, please go to the Emergency Dept of your nearest hospital.
Is there a number to call for the nurse?

How do I update my personal information at NSDL?
Please send any updated details to us via email reception@nsdermatology.com.au.
Do you have information on how to care for my skin after a procedure?
You will be given after care procedures at the time of your treatment, however you can also find before and after care on our website.
What is this latest acne laser treatment available at NSDL?
Avi Clear is our newest laser treatment for acne and we are experiencing very encouraging results with this treatment.
How do I know which dermatologist is right for my condition?
Our website gives detailed information about who specialises in various skin conditions. If you go to the website and search for your skin condition, you will find the relevant Dermatologist to book an appointment with.
Can NSDL give me an emergency appointment?
We can do our best to find an appointment for you, please call the clinic on (02) 9958 1555.
How do I get a repeat prescription?
Prescriptions can be requested if appropriate outside of an appointment as long as you’ve seen your Dermatologist in the last 3 months. The cost is $35 for a prescription.

Can I bring someone with me to my biopsy or laser appointment?
Yes if you feel more comfortable, we are happy for you to bring someone with you.
