Dr Catherine McKay

Dr Catherine McKay is a Specialist Dermatologist and Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists. Dr McKay graduated from medical school with a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery degree in 2006 at the University of Queensland. Her extensive dermatology training was undertaken both in Australia (St Vincent’s Hospital, Darlinghurst; Prince of Wales Hospital, Randwick; Royal Newcastle Centre/John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle) and the United Kingdom (Clatterbridge Hospital, Bebington, Wirral; St John’s Institute of Dermatology, London). She has also spent time training in NSW rural areas such as Coffs Harbour and Bourke.
Dr McKay is degree qualified in Dietetics (Honours, First Class) and holds a Graduate Certificate in Wound Care (Monash University, Victoria). She has a keen interest in all aspects of general dermatology and has had specific training in varied areas of practice including photodermatology, paediatrics, immunobullous disease, gynaecological dermatology, skin cancer and dermatological surgery. Dr McKay is also involved in the teaching and training of dermatology registrars, holding a monthly clinic as a Visiting Medical Specialist at the Royal Newcastle Centre in Newcastle. A keen presenter, Dr McKay has delivered seminars to general practitioners, nurses and medical students both in Australia and abroad on a range of topics including Acne Management; Psoriasis; Nail disorders; Rosacea; Leprosy; Skin Cancer and Wound Healing and has a number of papers published in peer reviewed journals.
