Dr Lachlan Byth completed his specialist training in dermatology through the Australasian College of Dermatologists at major teaching hospitals including Royal North Shore Hospital, Concord Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital, and the Sydney Children’s Hospital. As part of his training, Dr Byth was selected to undertake a clinical fellowship at the Churchill Hospital and John Radcliffe Hospital, University of Oxford, supported by a joint scholarship from the Australasian College of Dermatologists and Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Dr Byth graduated from Griffith University with a Doctor of Medicine awarded with distinction, receiving both the University Medal and the Dean’s Medallion for the highest academic performance. He also holds a Master of Public Health (Epidemiology) from the University of New South Wales, awarded with excellence.
During his dermatology training, Dr Byth was awarded the Australasian College of Dermatologists’ Travelling Fellowship for achieving the highest score in the national fellowship examinations. He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals on topics including inflammatory skin disease, paediatric dermatology, cutaneous lymphoma, and artificial intelligence in dermatology, and has presented his work at national and international meetings.
Dr Byth is experienced in general medical and surgical dermatology, and is committed to providing comprehensive, evidence-based care to patients of all ages. He has a particular interest in early diagnosis and surgical treatment of skin cancer, hair and nail diseases, and paediatric dermatology.
Outside of medicine, he has an interest in clinical research and education, including teaching medical students and dermatology registrars. He is a keen runner and holds an associate diploma in piano performance.
