Halo Laser

At NSDL, we offer the HALO laser, an innovative skin rejuvenation treatment that combines ablative (2940nm) and non-ablative laser technologies (1470nm) to improve skin texture, tone, and overall quality.

This dynamic treatment is ideal for patients seeking significant skin improvements with customisable downtime. Compared to a Moxi, Halo will both polish the skin whilst addressing the deeper concerns such as lines and wrinkles.

Why have Laser treatments with a Dermatologist?

When it comes to laser treatments, the device is only part of the equation. Just like a master craftsman uses tools to create their best work, dermatologists combine advanced knowledge of skin histology with expert use of laser technologies to deliver superior results. This expertise ensures the best possible outcomes while minimizing risks.

The device itself, such as the HALO laser, is merely a tool—it’s how it’s deployed that truly matters. A skilled dermatologist will thoroughly assess your skin, ensuring there are no underlying complications, and tailor the treatment to your skin’s unique needs. This is the key to achieving optimal results safely and effectively.

What is HALO?

HALO is the first hybrid fractional laser that combines both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths in a single treatment. This allows it to target multiple layers of the skin simultaneously, providing both surface-level rejuvenation and deeper collagen stimulation.

  • Ablative laser: Removes microscopic layers of damaged skin, promoting skin regeneration.

  • Non-ablative laser: Stimulates collagen production deep within the skin without damaging the surface.

Unlike traditional lasers, HALO delivers maximum results with minimal downtime. It is especially effective for patients looking for significant skin improvements without the prolonged recovery time associated with fully ablative treatments.

What can HALO treat?

The HALO laser is used to treat a variety of skin concerns, including:

How does HALO work?

HALO delivers a unique combination of fractional ablative and non-ablative wavelengths to precisely target the skin. The ablative wavelength removes damaged tissue at the surface, while the non-ablative wavelength penetrates deeper to stimulate collagen production and skin remodeling.

This dual-action approach provides both immediate improvement in skin texture and tone, and long-term benefits as new collagen forms over the following months.

At NSDL, we often incorporate HALO into our laser stacking treatments. This involves combining HALO with other lasers, such as corrective lasers for pigmentation and redness, to deliver comprehensive results in a single session. This approach allows us to treat multiple skin concerns at once, reducing the need for multiple treatments and customizing the intensity of the treatment based on your individual needs.

What to expect during treatment

Your treatment will begin with a thorough cleansing of your skin. Topical Anaesthetic is applied for 60min prior to your treatment.

You may feel a warming sensation as the HALO laser works to rejuvenate your skin. The procedure generally lasts between 30-60 minutes, depending on the treatment area and intensity.

Recovery and Results

One of the key advantages of the HALO laser is that the downtime can be tailored to your desired results. For a more aggressive treatment with greater results, you may experience more downtime. For a lighter treatment, recovery may be minimal.

  • Recovery: You may notice redness and a warm sensation immediately after treatment. Your skin will be swollen. A sandpaper-like texture develops  as the skin heals around day 3-5. Makeup can typically be applied the next day, and most patients resume their normal activities shortly after treatment.

  • Results: You’ll notice improvements in skin texture, clarity, and tone within a week, with full results developing over the next 3-4 weeks. For the best results, we recommend a series of 2-3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Sometimes your skin may remain pink for 4-6 weeks after treatment coverable.

Aftercare Instructions

Proper aftercare is crucial for achieving the best results with HALO. Here are your aftercare instructions:

  1. Cleansing (AM/PM): Use a vinegar wash or mild cleanser to clean the treated area twice daily.

  2. Days 1-3: Apply a pea-sized amount of Stratacel (medical-grade dressing gel) to the treated area to keep it moist and protected. This gel can help reduce redness by up to 50%.

  3. Day 4-10: Transition to Toleriane Sensitive Facial Moisturiser, applying a 5c-sized amount to the treated area after cleansing to keep the skin hydrated and comfortable.

  4. Thermal Spring Water: Use thermal spring water spray to soothe and hydrate the skin at any time during recovery.

  5. Sun Avoidance: Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 48 hours after the procedure.

  6. Sunscreen: Sunscreen should not be applied until after peeling is complete to avoid irritation on the freshly treated skin.

  7. Follow-up: Patients are encouraged to send photos on Day 1, 3, and 6 after treatment to monitor healing.

Follow up

We like to see you around day 4-5 for an LED treatment to help assist skin exfoliation. We also like to see you for follow up 4 weeks after your last treatment. Ongoing maintenance is essential to achieving lasting results. Your skin will continuously improve in time if you stick to a good annual laser plan.

Selecting the best laser treatments tailored to your unique skin concerns is the key to achieving your desired outcomes for your individual skin.
